"Can You Hear Me Now? Good."

The telephone has to be one of the most important technological inventions of all time.
It has opened the waves of communication. Here's a few reasons why:
  • It revolutionized the world of communication. When the telephone was invented, you could stop waiting days for letters. Instead, just dial the phone!
  • It was the gateway to other things we "couldn't live without" today: Cell phones, computers, etc.
  • It changed the way we communicate itself. Communication has become increasingly informal as the years go on. Instead of, "Dear Madame Bijou," it's now, "Heeeeey, what's up, B-dawg?!" Okay, that may not be a good thing. But... it's a fact.
So yeah.
I think we all owe Alexander Graham Bell a big thanks.
In the words of Lady Gaga:
"Call all you want, but there's no one home. You're not gonna reach my telephone."

Top Ten List of WHO CARES?

Okay, so as you all know, this blog is mandatory for Computer Lit.
And also mandatory today in Computer Lit. was creating bulleted lists. We had to search for different "Top Ten" lists to bullet and format.

It's amazing how much weird stuff people make a list out of.
And the sad part is, there are probably a lot of people out there, staring at their computer screen, looking up all this stuff. So, in honor of all the weirdos out there, I made my own Top Ten List....

Top Ten List of Random Top Ten Lists
  1. Top Ten Behaviors of Bacteria
  2. Top Ten Foods Found in Teeth
  3. Top Ten Twitches of the Human Body
  4. Top Ten Sayings Skateboarders Say
  5. Top Ten Fastest Shoe-Tiers in History
  6. Top Ten Greatest Mullets of All Time
  7. Top Ten Weirdest Things Jim Shearer, Host of VH1's Top Twenty Countdown, Does
  8. Top Ten Times Snookie Got Drunk
  9. Top Ten Most Recent Lindsay Lohan Drug Sightings
  10. Top Ten Times the Ghost Hunters Crew Says "WHAT WAS THAT?!?!?!"
Hehe! Enjoy!
Bye!

Warning: Texting Causes Social Awkardness

TEXTING.

Old people hate it. Young people love it.
But is there a gray area?
Here are the facts:
1. Texting is convenient. Come on, oldies, you can't deny it.
2. It can be a good way to connect with someone.
3. It's a security blanket. Whenever I need to reach my mom or she needs to reach me, it's quick and easy.

But as for advantages, that's about it. Unfortunately, this useful tool can easily be misused.
Like when I'm on a walk with my friend and she suddenly stops dead in the street to answer a text. Really? What if a car comes, huh? Are you going to make it stop just so you can tell the person you're texting "g2g"?
And I hate it when I'm trying to have a conversation and I see her typing away to another person. I mean, come on. I know you're not that good of a multi-tasker. There's no way you can be paying attention to me and the other person at the same time. One of us is getting cut out, and I'm pretty sure it's the real live person in front of you.

But I can't be too critical because, like it or not, I do it too.

The other day I was at my friend's house, watching a movie. And there was this one point in time where we were sitting side by side, quiet, both texting other people. I looked up and said, "This is ridiculous," and put my phone away. Because really, what's the point of being with someone while your mind is with someone else? It's not fair to either of you.

It also makes you socially awkward. I've talked to people face-to-face and have gotten nowhere conversationally. But then when they text me, it's like they're a whole different person.

What has this human race come to if we can't communicate without a machine between us?
I guess I'm biased.
The other day I had the urge to write a letter to someone.

So while I love texting, really, I do... I still think we aren't using it right. But then again, it's still a new concept. See, even my spellcheck doesn't acknowledge "texting" as a word! It's going to be interesting what happens to texting as technology advances and the world changes.

There's No Place Like Homecoming... :)

Oh, Homecoming...

Homecoming is a stressful time if you're on Student Senate. Yesterday, we spent three hours in the sun painting windows around town, only to find that our paint peeled off at the slightest breeze. Not exactly what I'd call a fun experience.

The Homecoming Dress-Up Days this year are just same old same old. I think we should have like... Opposite Day. So then I could dress up as a super-athletic Olympian type.
Oh! And how about Future Career Day? That'd be fun!
Or like... Favorite Childhood Character Day. I'd love to see a bunch of Dora's and Barney's roaming around the halls.

Yeah...

Um...

Go Tigers!

Bailey

Stop! Blogging Time. :)

Hey ya'll. It's time to make my first post for Computer Lit. class.
I've got this song stuck in my head since Chorus, first period. It's so funny.
All of the girls sing this line:

Taylor, the latte boy. Bring me java, bring me joy. Oh Taylor, the latte boy. I love him, I love him, I love him.

And then all the boys sing this line:

Carol, the stalker chick. You're a psycho, and you're sick. Yes, Carol, the stalker chick. She scares me, she scares me, she scares me.

We all cracked up. It pretty much made my day.
Sooo.... I'm gonna go back to trying to figure out how to edit my little bloggy thing.
Thanks for reading!
I'll see you later in the blog-osphere. :)

(P.S. the title is a MC Hammer reference, just FYI.) :D :D :D
